The Peterborough mortgage broker you can actually go and see.
Jonathan Clements started this business with his wife, and there are six of us on Eastfield Road now. Five of us advise, we have access to most of the lender market, and if you would rather talk it through in person than fill in a form online, the kettle is usually on.
Illustrative only, based on a repayment mortgage. Your actual rate depends on your circumstances and the lender. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.

Jonathan Clements
I have been arranging mortgages for over ten years now. My wife and I started Clements Financial between us, and the idea behind it was never complicated: be the broker who actually picks the phone up.
There are six of us on Eastfield Road these days. Five of us advise, including me, so there is almost always somebody free to talk. Megan runs the branding and marketing side so the rest of us can get on with the cases. I have never stopped running my own cases and have no intention of starting now.
Most of what we do is residential. First-time buyers, people moving up, remortgages for anyone coming off a fixed rate, landlords with one property or with fifteen, and a good number of self-employed clients whose accounts another broker could not be bothered to read properly. We are moving into commercial lending as well.
If somebody else has already told you no, that is usually worth a conversation.
Mortgages, mostly
Five of the six things below are mortgages, which is a fair reflection of how our week actually goes.
First-time buyers
Getting the first one over the line. The deposit maths, an agreement in principle that estate agents take seriously, and somebody to ring when the process starts moving faster than you expected.
Read the full guide →Home movers
You can often take your existing mortgage with you, borrow more on top, or start fresh somewhere else. Which of those three is cheapest depends on your early repayment charge, so we work it out properly before you commit.
Work out the numbers →Remortgaging
Come to us about six months before your fixed rate ends and we can usually have the next deal lined up and waiting. Leave it until the month it expires and your lender will quietly move you onto their standard variable rate.
Check your timing →Buy-to-let
One property or a portfolio, personal name or limited company. Rental cover calculations vary enormously between lenders, and for most landlords that is the thing that decides who will lend rather than the headline rate.
Talk it through →Self-employed
Sole traders, company directors and contractors. Some lenders use your salary plus dividends, others use share of net profit, and a few will work from one year of accounts. Knowing which is which changes what you can borrow considerably.
Send us your figures →Protection
Life cover, critical illness and income protection, sized around the mortgage you have just taken on rather than around the largest policy a provider would like to sell you. We will tell you if you already have enough through work.
Ask about cover →Cover sized around your life, not their target
A mortgage is usually the largest thing anybody signs for, and protection is what stops it becoming somebody else's problem. We will tell you where you already have enough through work, and we will tell you where you have none at all.
Personal protection
Cover for you and the people at home.
- Life InsurancePays out a lump sum if you die during the term. For most people it is set to clear the mortgage.
- Critical Illness CoverPays out on diagnosis of one of the conditions the policy lists, while you are still living.
- Income ProtectionReplaces part of your income each month if illness or injury stops you working.
- Family Income BenefitPays your family a regular monthly income rather than one lump sum they have to manage.
- Child Critical Illness CoverCovers your children for the conditions listed. Often added to a parent's plan rather than bought alone.
Business protection
Cover arranged through and paid for by the company.
- Relevant Life InsuranceDeath in service cover for a single employee or director, paid for by the company.
- Key Person InsurancePays the business itself if someone it depends on dies or becomes seriously ill.
- Shareholder ProtectionGives the remaining shareholders the money to buy the shares of one who dies or falls ill.
- Executive Income ProtectionIncome protection for a director, with the premiums paid by the company rather than personally.
Health
Treatment without the wait.
All cover is subject to underwriting and to the terms, limits and exclusions of the policy you are offered. What you pay depends on your age, health and the amount of cover. Pick whichever of the above is closest and an adviser will work out what you actually need.
Talk to an adviserFour steps, start to completion
We talk first
Twenty minutes on the phone, or come into the office if you would rather do it face to face. We want to understand what you are trying to do and what your situation genuinely looks like.
We go looking
We have access to most of the lender market. For a lot of people criteria matter more than rate, so we establish who will actually lend to you before worrying about who is cheapest.
You get a recommendation
One lender, one product, and a clear explanation of why that one and what it will cost you over the deal period. Ask as many questions as you want, including the ones you think sound daft.
We do the chasing
Application, valuation, solicitors, all of it. You will hear from us when something moves, which beats sitting there wondering whether anything is happening.

What clients tell us
"I'd been putting off remortgaging for months because it felt overwhelming. Clements sorted it in one phone call and I'm now saving £180 a month."
"As a first-time buyer I had no idea what I was doing. They explained everything twice over without ever making me feel silly for asking."
"We used them for our mortgage and our life cover. Having one person who understood the whole picture made it so much easier."
Give us twenty minutes.
Ring the office and you will get one of us rather than a call centre. If we cannot help, we will say so.
